A new "image checker" is available to allow club members to independently check that their digital images meet competition requirements before submitting them. After uploading your image the checker reports back with items that are right, wrong or may need changing. Once you are happy with your file you can submit it for competition in the normal way (the checker doesn't do that for you). You can find it here.

Bridgend 5 Way Digital Battle 2020 9th November 2020
This evening we held the Bridgend 5 Way Battle where we would normally enter prints but Covid meant we needed to turn it into a PDI competition over Zoom and it proved a success. Baglan Bay, Bridgend, Cardiff, Rhondda and Swansea were the competing clubs. We were fortunate to have Carol McNiven Young FRPS EFIAP BPE4* CPAGB as our judge. Everyone agreed that Carol gave an outstanding critique of the displayed images. Her comments were both insightful and helpful with great clarity. She was able to fully explain the elements in the photograph, such as, narrative, composition, content, sharpness, colour gamut and shading that determined her marking. Carol complemented the high standard of entries.
There were 50 PDIs to be judged and at the end of the first half the scores were close and there was all to play for. During the second half the leading club began to stretch ahead but there was still a fight going on for second place. It was left until the last set of images for this to be decided. The final scores are shown below.
Thanks to all who took part and congrats to the winners - Rhondda.
Full results can be found here.

The 23rd March saw the judging of the 2015 Bridgend CC 5 to 8 Competition This years competition attracted a record number of sequences, with entries from all parts of the UK, South Africa and Norway. The sequences covered a number of themes and ideas reflecting the international nature of the authors. Animal life varied from the wildlife of Africa’s Etosha National Park via the sheep of North Wales to the polar bears of arctic Svalbard. The wild landscapes of Iceland and Scotland were counterbalanced by the more gentle and pastel landscapes of England and Wales.
Tasked with the not inconsiderable job of providing a critique of over thirty entries and selecting the winning sequences was this years judge Malcolm Imhoff FRPS FACI(M). Malcolm”s comments and suggestions were all given in a positive and constructive way intended to help the competitor polish and improve the techniques used. BCC would like to thank Malcolm for the not inconsiderable work that was required to critique the sequences and provide us with such a fulfilling event.

12 Way Print Battle sponsored by Fotospeed 6th October 2014
October 6th saw the first Bridgend Twelve Way Print Battle take place, with Ebbw Vale being very worthy winners. Alan Coles, of Ebbw Vale, can be seen in the photograph receiving the Trophy from Vince Cater of Fotospeed and the judge, Johnnie Rogers ARPS, Caerphilly Camera Club.
I have been working, along with Nigel Nicholas, on this battle since July this year, so was very happy to see it so well supported by not just the twelve clubs, but also Cwmbran who came along to watch. Fotospeed came in to sponsor this event and will be supporting us for the next 15 years. Our sponsors provided a box of A3 Fotospeed paper for each of the five individual winners.
To keep the battle fresh, we decided that the lowest scoring three clubs would drop out to make way for three new clubs every year. So, sadly, we say goodbye to Trostre, Pyle and Porthcawl, and Morriston and will welcome three new clubs next year: Gwynfa,Cwmbran and Kidderminster. We already have three clubs booked for 2016.
