My Cambodia story. Tom is very selective in his choice of clubs that he gives talks too and we are fortunate that he has agreed to come to Bridgend to take us on a journey to Cambodia where he will share his images with us and tell us all about this wonderful country.

Mike returns to the club to give us his latest talk which centres around his best images taken last year. Of 10,000 images taken only around 150 made the cut. Mike is going to be taking us through the 150+ images.

2nd - Chairman's Challenge
New season kicks off with a review of images for the Chairman's summer challenge. The review is a critique with 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the theme of 'taken on a mobile phone'. Any subject, taken on your mobile phone, between 11 June 2024 and 26 August 2024. You can submit up to 4 images. Minimal editing only, ideally as near as possible straight out of the phone. Mono conversion is acceptable. Please crop to the normal competition size of Max width 1600 and Max height 1200.

From Very Near To Not Quite So Far. Roy will take you from his back garden (expect to see close up images of flowers and insects) into his street where you will meet some local characters (of the two and four legged varieties) and around the village of Bedlinog where he lives. In the second part he will take us on some brief excursions to the Vale of Glamorgan, the Brecon Beacon and the 'Waterfall Country' of the Neath Valley before returning to the beautiful Pits Woods, just 20 minutes walk from his home, revealing how it changes across the seasons. It is an invitation to look close to home and to recognise the value of taking photographs close to home.

Mountains to the coast. Neil is a local award winning photographer ant his talk is called Mountains to the coast. Neil expects that his talk will take some people out of their comfort zone with some of the images. Neil will also explain how he has taken some of the images so we should have a learning experience whilst viewing some superb photography.
15th - Catherine Knee
A portraiture talk, which is not just a lot of Catherine's best photos of faces to look at. It is set to encourage people to think a bit beyond what a portrait image can mean, expanding beyond what you might need for a camera club competition.

4th - Walter Waygood
Walter was inspired by the landscape and people of his home environment Blaenafon, South Wales. Photography was used to provide a commentary of working class life during the 1970‘s. His interest in photography as a form of social commentary led him to make more political statements through his pictures during the miners strike of the 1980s.

Jonathan is a professional photographer with a specialism in waterscapes. In this talk, Jonathan is sharing his best tips for landscape and waterscape photography from having an idea to planning and executing the shoot and editing the final images.

Mike returns to the club with his latest talk, Kruger Park Safari. This talk gives a brief history of the Kruger Park along with information on the variety of animals that can be found there.

We welcome Ed Cloutman as judge for the evening.
18th - Critique/Editing night
Bring your images to be critiqued by the members of the club. A 'learning' and a 'support' night as we strive to improve all of our member's images at the club. The idea is that members will bring in images that they intend to enter in upcoming competitions this year and we will display them on the big screen. The members in the audience will be split into smaller groups with experienced (judges) and new members mixed in the groups. Each group will discuss how the image could be improved and then feed that back to the whole group so that the photographer can note the suggestions to improve their image.

The new season starts with a review of images for the Chairman's summer challenge, Industrial Wales. Up to four images may be submitted by each member.
