Introduction

We aim to make your visit to the club as a Guest Speaker as stress-free as possible. This page gives some basic information and, via the form at the end of the page, gives you the option of letting us know in advance what equipment you will need us to set up for you. You are welcome to use our club laptop, projector and other equipment, but if you prefer to use your own, that's fine with us too.

Start time

7.30pm

Club members arrive from around 7pm to set up the hall and equipment for a start at 7.30pm.

Break

8.30pm to 8.45pm

The break is not an absolute time slot - if it's more convenient for you to end the first part of your talk a bit earlier, we'll simply start the second half a little earlier too.

End time

9.30pm

We aim to end the evening, including questions and closing remarks, by 9.30pm to allow time for packing up equipment.

Venue

Notlon Church Hall, Bridgend

Full details can be found in the venue section of the website.

Club equipment - digital

We have the following available:

  • Club laptop - onto which your files can be copied from a memory stick
  • Club projector - 1920x1200 resolution, connects via HDMI
  • HDMI cable - 10m
  • Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to HDMI adaptor
  • Hand held pointer/controller - forward/backward/laser pointer, connects to laptop via a USB (type A) dongle
  • Small LED light - USB (type A) powered, suitable for use on desk alongside a laptop
  • Speakers - connect via 3.5mm headphone jack

Club equipment - prints

We can provide a stand for single prints, a three row multiple print stand and separate mount rests to allow up to 30 prints to be displayed on tabletops.

  • Print stand (with light, for single print)
  • Print stand (without light, three tiers for multiple prints)
  • Mount rests (to allow prints to be viewed on tabale tops during the break or at the end of the evening)

Things we don't have

There are a few items that speakers sometimes use that we don't have. So if you want to use one of these, you'll have to bring your own.

  • Clipboard and LED light - to help reading notes away from other light sources in the darkened hall.
  • Bluetooth speaker - we prefer not use a bluetooth speaker with our laptop without having a chance to test it beforehand, so if you have a bluetooth speaker you'd like to use, we'd request that you bring your laptop too, or use our speakers with our laptop.
